New Robot Expands Surgical Services At Putnam Hospital Center
A new robot joined the surgical team at Putnam Hospital Center. The da Vinci Xi robot by Intuitive is the latest robot model at the hospital with such enhancements as a sharper three-dimensional visualization, a better range of motion and greater operative reach for the surgeon, according to hospital spokesperson Marcela Rojas. A 27-year-old man was arrested for allegedly trying to cash a fraudulent postal money order in Greenwich. On Tuesday, July 9 at approximately 3:07 p.m., police were called to 27 Valley Drive on a report of ongoing check fraud at the post office, according to Greenwich Police. An officer approached the alleged suspect, Antoine M. Mable, of Manhattan, police said. A federal jury convicted a Merrick woman who is the former director of a Long Island Charity of stealing almost $1 million for luxury items such as vacations and cosmetic surgeries. Wafa Abboud, 51, the former executive director of Human First, a charity in Lynbrook that serves developmentally disabled people, was convicted of embezzling funds, bank fraud, and money laundering. A man who worked as a music professor at Nassau Community College for more than 50 years and who was also a longtime teacher and bandleader in Carle Place Public Schools died on Monday, July 8 at age 86. Robert Stanley Dransite taught in Carle Place school district for 36 years and was an adjunct professor at several Long Island colleges and universities, most notably NCC for 53 years until retiring. A Good Samaritan apprehended a woman who allegedly was involved in a hit-and-run with a school bus in Mastic on Friday morning, July 12.
