A man and woman had a loaded gun in their car when they were stopped on Long Island, according to police.
Officers on patrol in Freeport on Tuesday, July 16 at 11:23 p.m. noticed a 2018 Dodge Charger, occupied by Tamika Hicks, 32 and Devan Hall, 29 heading northbound on South Ocean Avenue, said Nassau County Police
A vehicle and traffic law stop were conducted at South Ocean Avenue and Ray Street, said police.
While investigating, the officer reportedly smelled marijuana and searched the vehicle, recovering a loaded semi-automatic handgun, according to police.

An Islandia man has been arrested in connection to a robbery at a Central Islip 7-Eleven, according to Suffolk County police.
Malcolm Crews allegedly entered 7-Eleven at 166 East Suffolk Ave. Wednesday, July 17 and told the clerk he had a gun and demanded cash at 12:27 a.m., said police.
When the clerk did not comply, Crews allegedly reached over the counter, stole cash from the drawer, and then fled on foot, according to police

James Kerns of Malverne, who was the popular owner of an area bike shop, died Sunday, July 14 at age 48.
James M. Kerns was the proprietor of Laurelton Cycle in Jamaica, Queens, established in 1928.
The shop in Springfield Gardens opened in the 1920s and was passed down through three generations in the Kerns family, according to a 2005 article in Times Ledger Newspapers
