Beef Steak Dinner Benefits Hasbrouck Heights Boy Scouts
HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. – There will be a beef steak dinner benefiting the Hasbrouck Heights Boy Scouts from 6-10 p.m. Saturday, March 19 at the Elks Lodge.
A $45 donation includes soda, coffee, relish tray, fruit, pasta, fries, ice cream and all-you-can-eat beef tenderloin, provided by Giresi’s Caterers. A cash bar will be available, along with tricky tray drawing and music.
Checks can be made payable to Troop 17 and credit card payments can be made online here.
The Elks Lodge is at 128 Baldwin Ave., Hasbrouck Heights.
Ambassador Thomas Niles Speaks At Retired Men's Meeting In Greenwich
GREENWICH, Conn. – Ambassador Tom Niles will speak at the next meeting of the Retired Men's Association Of Greenwich, Inc. (RMA) on Wednesday Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Lafayette Place.
Niles will lead a discussion, “My Perspective on Foreign Affairs Today,” and will discuss the experience and insights he gained during 36 years in the U.S. Foreign Service, and subsequently in international relations, to try to unravel the causes and direction of the many foreign challenges facing the U.S. today.

Ellen M. Woodruff, 85, New Rochelle Resident
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Ellen M. Woodruff, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died Wednesday, Jan. 27. She was 85.
She worked for many years as a first -grade teacher at Holy Family School in New Rochelle. She was married in 1954 to Frank Woodruff.
Her husband died on Aug. 20, 2015.
She is survived by her brother, James Coughlin and sister, Mary Searle; her daughters, Eileen Boyle Orton (Tom) and Susan Woodruff; her sons,Thomas, Robert (Maura), John (Angela) and Gary (Caroline) Woodruff; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Sally R. Dow, 80, Croton-On-Hudson Resident
CROTON-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – Sally R. Dow, a resident of Croton-on-Hudson for more than 50 years, died Thursday, Jan. 28. She was 80.
Sally was born on Nov. 11, 1935, in Lynn, Mass., to John M. Read and Catharine H. Mayo.
She was a graduate of the Walnut Hill School, Connecticut College and Simmons College, where she received her master’s degree in library science.
She worked as a librarian at Harvard University and the New York Public Library before moving to Croton with her husband, Bryden M. Dow, in 1963.
She retired as head of the Children's Room at the Ossining Public Library in 2012 …
John F. Raniolo, 89, Sleepy Hollow Resident
SLEEPY HOLLOW, N.Y. – John F. Raniolo, a native and lifelong resident of Sleepy Hollow, formerly North Tarrytown, died Friday, Jan. 29. He was 89.
Born in North Tarrytown on Oct. 30, 1926, he was the son of Joseph and Mary (Martone) Raniolo. He graduated from North Tarrytown High School.
At 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific region, where he participated in the Invasion of Okinawa.

Isabel Marie Vidone, 72, Tuckahoe Resident
TUCKAHOE, N.Y. – Isabel M. Vidone, a resident of Tuckahoe for 12 years and of Fresno, Calif., for 72 years, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville. She was 84.
Isabel was born in Fresno, to Mauro and Lucy Alfano and raised there.
She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Stephanie and Afshin and Christine and George; grandchildren Jasmine, Jordan and Jaden Bayrooti; Jennifer, Alexia and Jacob Evan; and Athena Evan-Soleim.
