NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Over 500 people packed L’escale at the Delamar Greenwich Harbor in Greenwich recently for Celebrating Hope 2016, the fourth annual benefit for the Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter. Before the benefit, Nancy Bemis spearheaded the Paint the Town Purple event in New Canaan with fellow residents Christina Fagerstal and Mimi Rafferty. During Paint the Town Purple, businesses displayed Gardens of Purple in and around their storefronts. Fairfield Ludlowe Senior Gives Grant To Bridgeport Breast Center
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Mason Jennings, a senior at Fairfield Ludlowe High School and son of Bridgeport Hospital CEO William Jennings, presented a check for $500 to Bridgeport Hospital’s Norma Pfriem Breast Center to benefit programs for women in need. Jennings applied for and secured a grant through the Young Donor Advised program of the CT Block Party. CT Block Party is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to educate children to recognize neighbors in need in their community. NORWALK, Conn. – “This Old House: The Veteran's Special House Project,” as part of the Be the Difference – Never Again Initiative, will be shown Thursday, May 26, from 6-8:30 p.m. in the Norwalk Library main auditorium. RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Beverly New Ehrhardt, of Rutherford, died Friday, May 20. She was 86. Born and raised in Rutherford, she graduated from Edgewood Park High School in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. and graduated from Centenary College in Hackettstown. She was a former member of the Rutherford Ambulance Corp. Her parents founded Ellwood S. New Inc. in 1926, a real estate and insurance firm in Rutherford, and continued for three generations in which she, her husband, Jack, and their daughter Judy worked for many years. Anne V. Hale, 86, Midland Park Resident
MIDLAND PARK, N.J. – Anne V. (Haarsgaard) Hale, of Midland Park, died Saturday, May 21. She was 86. She was born in Middlesbrough, England, and grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y., where she graduated from St. Agnes Academy. She and her husband, Ray, were married for 67 years. They moved to Midland Park in 1968, and raised their family there.
