Louis 'Lou' Nigrello, 90, Yonkers Resident
YONKERS, N.Y. – Louis "Lou" Nigrello, of Yonkers, died Friday, May 20. He was 90.
He was born June 18, 1925, in Jersey City, N.J. to Salvatore and Madeline Nigrello. He joined the U.S. Navy in World War II. After the war, he married the former Frances Jean Barbarita in Yonkers May 24, 1946. He was employed in the food business for 60 years, 40 of those years with A&P, then Sound Distribution and Haagen Daz. Michael Cunningham, 81, Rye Resident
RYE, N.Y. – Michael Cunningham, of Rye, died Sunday, May 22 at White Plains Hospital Center. He was 81.
Born Dec. 26, 1934, in County Meath, Ireland, he moved to America in 1957, and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Army as staff sergeant and served in Berlin until 1962. Upon discharge from the Army, he moved to Queens and served as a New York City firefighter from 1965-76. He eventually moved to Rye, where he had been a resident for the past 35 years.
