Police Ask Public's Help In Locating Westhampton Purse Thief Police are asking the public's help in identifying and locating a man accused of stealing a purse out of a car in Westhampton. The alleged purse thief reportedly pried open the window of a 2014 Nissan parked at the Suffolk County Nature Preserve at 613 Old Riverhead Road on Wednesday, June 26 at around 12:40 p.m. and stole a purse, Suffolk County Police said. Garage Fire Breaks Out In Farmingdale Firefighters in Farmingdale quickly knocked down an overnight fire. The blaze began around 12:20 a.m. Friday, July 5 and fully engulfed a detached garage on Jefferson Street off of Lincoln Avenue, according to the East Farmingdale Volunteer Fire Company. The fire was contained to the garage, said the fire department. The cause of the blaze is unknown and being investigated by the Town of Babylon Fire Marshal's office and the Suffolk County Police Department Arson Squad, the fire department's Public Information Officer Joe Scura told Daily Voice.
