Popular Barber Closing Shop In Fairfield After 61-Year Run A barbershop on Route 1 is closing its doors after being in business more than half a century. The original owner of Barber Serville on 1426 Post Road in Fairfield, Joe Vaccarella, confirmed the news to Daily Voice by phone. The shop has to vacate the storefront because the new property owners "want us to move," said Vaccarella. His daughter, Ann Marie Bennett, is the current owner of the business which employs two other barbers who will now be looking for new jobs, according to Vaccarella. The business operated in its current location since 1965.

Suspect Nabbed In Attempted Abduction Of 13-Year-Old Girl In Uniondale A suspect has been apprehended for the attempted alleged abduction of a 13-year-old girl in Uniondale, Nassau County Police announced on Thursday morning, July 4. Jamestown Canyon Virus Found In Westport In New CT Mosquito Collection The mosquito trapping and testing program in Connecticut has revealed an increase in the number with the Jamestown Canyon virus, including one in Fairfield County, but no West Nile virus in the latest sampling. The number of mosquitoes collected the week of July 1 also spiked, up to 16, 485 from the week of June 24 when 13, 786 mosquitoes were collected, according to the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station. Police Search For Motorist In SUV Driver Who Fleed After Crashing Into Uber Driver In Bay Shore Police are looking for an SUV driver who fleed after crashing into an Uber driver on Long Island. An Uber driver was allegedly attacked by two passengers on Union Boulevard on May 11 at approximately 1:35 a.m., said Suffolk County Police. Man Screams At Kids Before Trying To Smash Baldwin Day Care Center Window, Police Say A man allegedly screamed at children and staff then tried to break a window at a daycare center in Baldwin.
