Barbara Tester, 71, Maywood Resident
MAYWOOD, N.J. – Barbara (Caden) Tester, of Maywood, died Wednesday, April 20. She was 71.
She was an English teacher for more than 30 years. She worked in New York City, Elmwood Park, Cliffside Park and then settled into the Dumont Board of Education for many years, before retiring in 2014.
She was the wife of William M. Tester; mother of Dylan and his wife, Claire, and Glen and his wife, Wendy; and grandmother of Cayden.

HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y. – Anne Jackson, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1978, and previously of Mamaroneck, died Wednesday, April 20. She was 76.
She was born Dec. 12, 1939, in Mount Vernon, to John Stephen and Gertrude (Vonderhyde) Schumacher.
She was a graduate of Mamaroneck High School where she served as the captain of the Rifle Team.

She was born May 27, 1961, to the late Tommie Lee Chandler and Eddie Lee Chandler in Brookville, Miss., where she lived until she was 3. It was during this time she and her family relocated to Englewood before settling in Paterson.

RIDGEWOOD, N.J. – James P. Gatens, of Ridgewood, died Tuesday, April 19. He was 71.
A native of New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen and Inwood, and a longtime resident of Blauvelt, N.Y. and Spring Lake, he was a 50-year member of Local 751, treasurers and ticket sellers, and took great pride in his 30-year tenure as head treasurer of Times Square’s TKTS booth.

MONROE, N.Y. – Bernice Patterson, of Monroe, died Wednesday, April 20, in Newburgh. She was 88.
She was born Aug. 2, 1927, in Youngstown, Ohio, to Clayton and Mary Jackson Rose.
She is survived by her husband, James Patterson; children, Daniel Hayes Hammond and Ronald Martin Hammond; grandchildren, Diana Hammond, Ron Hammond, JoHanna Schmid and Kevin Hammond; seven great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by three sisters.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, at 2:30 p.m. at Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Fishkill.

NEW ROCHELLE, N.J. – Charles "Chuck" Mucci, of Rochelle Park, died Wednesday, April 20. He was 84.
Before retiring, he worked for Fidelity National Title in New York. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Rochelle Park. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 2842, Holy Name Society of Sacred Heart and the American Legion Post #170. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran who served during the Korean War.
