John Nilsen, 84, Park Ridge Resident
PARK RIDGE, N.J. – John Nilsen, of Park Ridge, died Thursday, April 14. He was 84.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Arthur and Vivian Nilsen. He was a 57-year member of the New York City Carpenter Union Local #296 and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his children, Chris, John, Joan, Vivian, Jimmy and Billy; grandchildren, TJ, Nicole, Vinny, Toni, Michael, Joey, Johnny and Katie; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Paisley; new in-laws, Erika and Martha; old in-laws, Beth and Fred; and various ex in-laws.

NEW FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Matthew Samuel Pines, of New Fairfield, died Tuesday, April 19. He was 33.
He was born in Rochester, New York, on Feb. 25, 1983. His loves included spending time with his family and many friends, riding his motorcycle and being a prankster. He will forever be remembered for his big heart.

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – Vernon Lee Thunem, a resident of New Canaan for more than 53 years, died Tuesday, April 19 after a brief illness. He was 90.
Born in New York City Jan. 2, 1926, he was the son of the late Louis and Victoria Thunem. An only child, he attended The Hunter College Model School and Stuyvesant High School. He played the violin and was a Boy Scout at the West Side YMCA. He earned a bachelor’s degree in fine arts from Columbia University and a master’s degree from New York University. HOPEWELL JUNCTION, N.Y. – Anne Jackson, a resident of Hopewell Junction since 1978, and previously of Mamaroneck, died Wednesday, April 20. She was 76.
She was born Dec. 12, 1939, in Mount Vernon, to John Stephen and Gertrude (Vonderhyde) Schumacher.
She was a graduate of Mamaroneck High School where she served as the captain of the Rifle Team.
