Timothy M. Toine, 68, Bergenfield Resident BERGENFIELD, N.J. – Timothy M. Toine, of Bergenfield, died Friday, Jan. 8. He was 68. He was born Aug. 8, 1947. He was a member of the Englewood Police Force for 17 years. A Vietnam veteran, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a security office employee for many years, as well as a skilled photographer. He was a member of the Bergenfield Knights of Columbus, St. Johns Cornerstone, a board member of the Bergenfield Swim Club, volunteered with Venture crew and Troop 139, was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order and taught in the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. Katharine R. Hicks, 81, Fishkill Resident FISHKILL, N.Y. – Katharine R. Hicks, of Fishkill, died Thursday, Jan. 7. She was 81. Born April 29, 1934, in New York City to the late Lymas and Pearl Williams Robinson Sr., she worked for many years at New York Telephone, Blue Cross/Blue Shield and as the sergeant at arms for the New York City mayor’s office. She is survived by her son Michael and his wife, Karen; brother Lyman Robins Jr., (Butchy); sister Thelma Price; four grandchildren; and her former husband, Herman Hicks. Winter's Wildlife Detectives Come To West Nyack Free Library WEST NYACK, N.Y. – Children are invited to learn about the winter habits of animals with Master Gardeners from Cornell Cooperative Extension Monday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m. in the Children’s Room at the West Nyack Free Library. Where do animals go when the ground is covered with snow? What do they eat? How do they stay warm? Children in kindergarten through fourth-grade will investigate the winter habits and survival methods of neighborhood woodland animals. The visit includes stories, displays and games. Friends Of Grinnell Library Holding Raffle For 'Super Snow Day' Basket WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. – Friends of the Grinnell Library are holding a raffle through Saturday, Jan. 23 for a “Super Snow Day basket. The basket includes items to help get through the cold winter months, such as two coffee mugs, brownie mix, hot cocoa mix, marshmallows, popcorn, a puzzle book, two DVDs of classic cartoons and for outdoor fun, a round sled and a snow brick maker, among other items. Ticket prices are one ticket for $1 or six tickets for $5. The drawing will be held on Jan. 23 at noon. The Grinnell Library is located at 2642 E. Main St, Wappingers Falls.
