Mark Charles Schmidt, 65, Bridgeport Resident BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Mark Charles Schmidt, a former 911 operator for the City of Bridgeport, died Saturday, Jan. 9, at St. Vincent's Medical Center. He was 65. He was a son, brother, uncle and friend. A lifelong resident of Bridgeport, he was born Nov. 23, 1950, at the same moment as the Central/Harding football kickoff on Thanksgiving Day. Sophie Ellen Dinter, 96, Port Chester Resident PORT CHESTER, N.Y. – Sophie Ellen Dinter, of Port Chester, died Sunday, Jan. 10. She was 96. Born Sohpia Zimish in Biseger, Pa., she moved to New York City in 1938, studied nursing and received her LPN certificate. While living in the city, she met and married Paul Dinter. When gas and rubber rationing in World War II prevented their commuting from the Bronx to their war defense jobs at Homelite, they moved to Port Chester in 1942.  After her husband returned from his naval service in 1946, he became first a distributor, then a wholesaler with Arnold Bakers, and Dinter began working at Unit…
