POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Poughkeepsie resident Ellen G. (Bluestone) Sherman died Tuesday, Jan. 12. She was 82.
She was born Nov. 1, 1933, in Brooklyn, to Edward S. Bluestone and Susan Beatrice (Washor) Bluestone.
She was a lifelong resident of Brooklyn before moving to Poughkeepsie in 2007. She attended Erasmus Hall High School and Brooklyn College and City College of New York. She worked at Long Island University’s Brooklyn campus where she made devoted friends. She enjoyed reading, walking, crossword puzzles, poetry, seeing Broadway shows and playing Scrabble.

Daniel Thomas Lynch, 95, Fishkill Resident
FISHKILL, N.Y. – Daniel Thomas Lynch, a resident of Fishkill, formerly of Passaic, N.J.,, died Thursday, Jan. 14. He was 95.
He was born to Daniel T. Lynch and Jane Moran Lynch.
Upon the death of his sister, Regina Woodruff, in 2004, he moved to Fishkill to be near family.
Lynch was a World War II veteran. As a result of military action in the Pacific, he was awarded several action and campaign medals.

GRAHAMSVILLE, N.Y. – Robert Elmer Morgan, Sr., of Grahamsville, died Friday, Jan. 15, his 76th birthday.

Dorothy Stewart, 87, Bridgeport Resident
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Dorothy Zabaska Stewart, of Bridgeport, died Wednesday, Jan. 13. She was 87.
She was raised in St. Albans, Vt., and married and moved to Stamford where she and and her husband, Judson R. Stewart, raised their five children. She devoted her time to her young family.
Later in life, she enjoyed her position as a cashier at Thormes Pharmacy in Stamford, where she worked for many years. She loved dogs and cats, with Rayadh as her favorite. While visiting her daughter in Florida, Disney World became one of her favorite destinations.

NORWALK, Conn. – Thursa June Merritt, a lifelong resident of Shorefront Park in Norwalk, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, at Norwalk Hospital. She was 71.
Born in Norwalk, she was the daughter of Philip and Mary-Alice (Barnum) Merritt.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Jeffrey Glenn Burney, of Pittsfield, Mass., and formerly of Bridgeport, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 12. He was 61.
He was born and raised in Bridgeport and was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

She was a parishioner at St. Margaret Mary Alacoque Church in Shelton and, for many years, of Holy Family Church in Fairfield. LITTLE FERRY, N.J. – Gilda A. (Sampugnaro) Welby, of Little Ferry, died Friday, Jan. 15. She was 88.
Born in Hackettstown and raised in Manhattan and the Bronx, N.Y., she resided in Saddle Brook before moving to Little Ferry. She was a volunteer with the New York Public Library. An avid reader, she also enjoyed cooking. Prior to raising her family, she was a secretary for the art director of Double Day Publishing in New York City.
