Robert Baras, 85, Westport Resident
WESTPORT, Conn. – Robert (Bob) Baras, of Westport, died Sunday, Feb. 7. He was 85.
He was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Esther (Hertan) and Solomon Baras. Both were Romanian immigrants. He was raised in the Bronx and graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School, and then attended City College. He was a longtime resident of Manhattan and Tourette-Sur-Loup, France. He was married to his wife of 49 years, Francine Baras.

Garfield, Passaic iLearn Schools Honored With 2016 Patriot Award
GARFIELD, N.J. – Five iLearn Schools employees in Passaic and Garfield were honored Friday with the Office of the Secretary of Defense Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve’s Patriot Award.
The events were at the Passaic Arts and Science Primary School and the Bergen Arts and Science Middle School in Garfield.

Theron Samuel Strother, 73, Poughkeepsie Resident
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Theron Samuel Strother of Poughkeepsie died Wednesday, Feb. 3, at home. He was 73.
Born May 25, 1942, in Beacon, he was the son of the late Samuel Strother and Emma Bomar. He was educated in the Beacon school district. He was employed by Texaco Research Co. in Glenham and retired after 30 years.
He married Lucille Strother in Beacon, who predeceased him in 2000.
He was a member of the Fishkill and Poughkeepsie Hoe Bowl Leagues, Texaco Senior Club, Boy Scouts of America, Astor Children Home Board in Kingston and the Connecticut Hurricane Drum Corps. He enjoyed bowling, …

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Paul B. Williams of Poughkeepsie died Monday, Feb. 1, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 87.
He was born March 16, 1928, in Troy. He was the son of the late Donald Z. and Martha (Getman) Williams. He married Suzanne Irons on Oct. 13, 1974, in Poughkeepsie. He was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School and a graduate of RPI in 1950. He was employed by IBM Poughkeepsie as an engineer and retired in 1988.
