STAMFORD, Conn. – Sydell F. Hertz, of Stamford, died Wednesday, Feb. 10 at Stamford Hospital. She was 86.
“Syd” was born Jan. 2, 1930, in New York City where she attended the High School of Music and Art. After graduating from the Fashion Institute of Technology and Design, she worked briefly in the fashion industry and then married Jerome Hertz.

NORWALK, Conn. – Mable Glenn Edwards, of Norwalk, died Monday, Feb. 8 at Norwalk Hospital. She was 73.
She was born in Winterville, North Carolina, on Oct. 18, 1942, to the late Osiana Brock and Aaron Charles Edwards Sr. She attended Robinson Union High School and graduated in May of 1961. She attended Good Hope Freewill Baptist Church in Winterville. She moved to Norwalk to live her paternal grandmother so she could have a better life. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and served as an usher for many years.

STAMFORD, Conn. – Mary Churley, of Stamford, died Wednesday, Feb. 10. She was 90.
Born Nov. 29, 1925, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Eva Kronk.
She is survived by her brother, John Kronk and his wife, Joan; and her caregiver, Judith Shaw.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stephen Churley.

STAMFORD, Conn. – Dorothy Buccino, a longtime resident of Stamford, died Tuesday, Feb. 2 at Cassena Care in Norwalk. She was 87.
Born Feb. 23, 1928, in Greenwich, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Josephine Keeler. She was a graduate of Stamford High School.
She is survived by son Lou Carl Buccino of New Milford, grandchildren Michael Buccino and Matthew Buccino of Stamford, sister Shirley Beauleau of Stamford and brother-in-law Eugene Buccino, also of Stamford.

Fairfield Special Olympics Athlete Joins Fundraiser At Jersey Mike's
FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Special Olympics Connecticut athletes Jennifer Eng, of Stratford, and Rebecca Kennelly, of Fairfield, will visit Jersey Mike’s Sub, 2189 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield, and 390 Post Road East, Suite 20, Westport from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday to promote a fundraiser in support of Special Olympics Connecticut.
The athletes will be joined by Special Olympics Connecticut employees and will be handing out coupons to customers.

SCARSDALE, N.Y. – Irving Harris, of Scarsdale, died Monday, Feb. 8, due to complications from dementia and Alzheimer's disease. He was 86.

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Florindo " Tom" Vassallo, of Pleasantville, formerly of the Bronx, died Monday, Feb. 8. He was 87.
He was born May 11, 1928, to Josephine (Kovac) and Ralph Vassallo.

SOMERS, N.Y. – Werner Hengst, of Somers, died Sunday, Feb. 7, of complications from diabetes. He was 79.
He was co-founder and administrator of Our Montessori School in Yorktown Heights, as well as a husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.
He was born in 1936 in Lübeck, Germany, to Gerhard and Emma Hengst. His father worked on the rocket program with Wernher von Braun, which brought the family to Cape Canaveral, Fla., in 1952. Andre Faup, 81, Harrison Resident
HARRISON, N.Y. – Andre A. Faup, Jr., of Harrison, died Sunday, Feb. 7. He was 81.
Born and raised in New York City and New Rochelle, he was the son of Lucie and Andre Faup.
He graduated from Iona Prep and from Iona College with a degree in criminal justice. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a weatherman in the U.S. Air Force with the Strategic Air Command.
