Ossining HS's Benjamin Feinstein Named National Merit Scholarship Finalist OSSINING, N.Y. – The National Merit Scholarship Corporation has named Ossining High School senior Benjamin Feinstein as a finalist in its 61st annual scholarship program. Feinstein is taking several advanced placement courses and is in the Ossining High School Fundamentals of Science Research program. For the Science Research program, he is working with a mentor from Yale University on a project about synesthesia. Fundraiser For Local Nonprofits At Leonia Church LEONIA, N.J. – The Leonia United Methodist Church is having a fundraiser to support local non-profit organizations at 6 p.m. Saturday, March 12. Westlake High School Student Will Sweeny Named National Merit Finalist THORNWOOD, N.Y. – Westlake High School senior Will Sweeny has been named a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Sweeny will compete with approximately 15,000 other finalists for 2,500 Merit Scholarship awards as well as corporate and university sponsored scholarships. Winners will be announced this spring. Pair Of Putnam School Districts Rank Among State's Best PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two Putnam County school districts are among the 100 best in New York, according to the education website Niche. Montvale Firefighter Ray Hutchison Receives Park Ridge Service Award PARK RIDGE, N.J. – First Congregational Church of Park Ridge member Ray Hutchison received the Park Ridge Service Award at Tuesday’s town hall meeting at borough hall. Hutchison was nominated by the church for his work as chairman of the property team. He was responsible for the installation of a new kitchen in the church parsonage, the commission of a community garden on the church property and had various work parties to repair and maintain the rooms in the church. Hutchison also is a volunteer fireman for the Montvale Fire Department and a past Cub Scout leader.

Old Tappan Student Wins Poetry Out Loud Regional Championship OLD TAPPAN, N.J. – Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan sophomore Claire Choi became the school's second Poetry Out Loud Regional Champion Monday. Choi competed at the Bergen Performing Arts Center in Englewood with 21 other students from Hudson, Passaic and Bergen counties in the North Jersey Regionals.
