Hasbrouck Heights Scouts Have Annual Pinewood Derby
HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, N.J. – The Cub Scouts of Pack 17 in Hasbrouck Heights had their annual Pinewood Derby Race Saturday, Feb. 6, and proudly showed off their cars with designs ranging from slick and streamlined to fun and creative.
Scouts and their families enjoyed refreshments while watching the cars zoom down the track. The winners were:

Helgi P. Creighton, 77, Hyde Park Resident
HYDE PARK, N.J. – Helgi P. Creighton, of Hyde Park, died Friday, Feb. 12. She was 77.
She was born in Podrala, Estonia, on May 9, 1938, to Voldemar and IIse (Patzig) Pass.
She emigrated with family during World War II and traveled through displaced persons camps before she settled in the U.S. in 1949.
She was a 1957 graduate of Poughkeepsie High School. She worked for General Motors for 35 years.
She is survived by her son, James and daughter, Kelli (Scott); granddaughter, Nicole (Brian); and great-granddaughter, Chastity.
She was predeceased by her husband, James and brother, Yuri. …
Jane Warhol, 88, Clifton Resident
CLIFTON, N.J. – Jane Warhol, of Clifton, died Saturday, Feb 13. She was 88.
She was born in Passaic on Oct 31, 1927, to Thomas and Agnes Warhol. She last worked as a photo artist for the CNR Photo Restoration Co., in Hackensack. She retired in 1995. She was a lifelong parishioner of Holy Rosary Church in Passaic.
She is survived by her cousins, John and Jane Nowak; and her friend of more than 75 years, Stephanie Osetek.
She was predeceased by her brother, Stanley.

Virginia Auld, 89, North Bergen Resident
NORTH BERGEN, N.J. – Virginia Auld, of North Bergen, died Sunday, Feb. 14. She was 89.
She was born Nov. 26, 1926, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Joseph and the Freda (Russo) Giambalvo.
Her husband Finley G. Auld died in 2006.
She is survived by her children, Suzanne (Kevin) Hartt, Doretta Auld, Gregory (MaryAnn) Auld, and Douglas Auld; four grandchildren, Bryan Auld, Diana Hartt and her fiancée, Bobby Smillie, Jason Hartt, and Emily Auld.

ROCHELLE PARK, N.J. – Vincent Gabriel DePinto, of Rochelle Park, died Wednesday, Feb. 10. He was 84.
He was an Air Force veteran who served during the Korean War. Upon completing his duty, he became a machinist and worked on some of the first computers. He also ran a successful home renovation business for many years. He was a longtime member of the Saddle Brook American Legion Post 415.

Anne Hutchinson, Greenvale Students Perform Concert For Senior Citizens
EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Fifth-grade orchestra students from Anne Hutchinson and Greenvale schools, directed by teacher Suzanne Greene, entertained Eastchester senior citizens Sunday, Feb. 14, during the annual Valentine’s Day concert at the Lake Isle Nutrition Center.
Eastchester High School choral teacher James Gedge accompanied the orchestra on piano. The violinists, violists, pianists and cellists performed solos and ensemble pieces for the enjoyment of the seniors, and ended the concert with a sing along of two songs, “Love Me Tender” and “Let Me Call You Sweetheart.”
