John A. Schaffer, 92, Teaneck Resident TEANECK, N.J. – John A. Schaffer, of Teaneck, died Tuesday, Feb. 16. He was 92. He was a longtime volunteer at Holy Name Medical Center and a lifelong New York football Giants fan. He was the father of Lorraine and her husband, Nick Rafter; and brother of Anna Hake. His wife, Mary (Dilorio) Schaffer, predeceased him. Visitation is Saturday from 8-9:45 a.m. at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, then to St. Anastasia's Roman Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will take place at Mary Rest Cemetery.

He was born March 16, 1923, in Galway, Ireland to Michael and Mary McGrath Joyce.  He married Mary Deane in 1952. Prior to his retirement, he worked for the New York City Department of Sanitation.
