Roger A. Roth, 80, Pleasant Valley Resident
PLEASANT VALLEY, N.Y. – Roger A. Roth, of Pleasant Valley, died Tuesday, March 22 at Vassar Brothers Hospital. He was 80.
He was born May 20, 1935, in Kingston, to the late William and Rita Roth. He grew up in Pleasant Valley. He graduated from Arlington High School in 1953. After graduating, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in England from 1953-57. He worked for 38 years at IBM in Poughkeepsie before his retirement. In his younger days, he also was a bartender at the Stone Chimney, Talbots and Mike Cady’s in the Valley.

MAHOPAC, N.Y. – Janet Marie MacMillan, daughter of Helen Zimmer and William Hanig, died Wednesday, March 23, at the CarePartners Solace Center in Asheville, N.C., after an 11-year struggle with cancer. She was 70.
She lived in Asheville with her husband, Robert MacMillan. She was born March 10, 1946, in Long Branch, N.J. She grew up in Queens and was a graduate of Richmond Hill High School and St. John’s University, where she received her degree in teaching. POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Elizabeth F. "Betty" Kopser-Perreault of Poughkeepsie died Monday, March 21. She was 94.
Born in Albany on March 6, 1922, she was a lifetime area resident. She was the daughter of the late John H. and Gertrude Foy Flinn. She attended Oakwood Friends School, Guilford College and Marist College, where she received her master's degree. She worked as an accountant for the Hudson River Psychiatric Center and retired in 1988.

PEARL RIVER, N.Y. – Margaret A. Haug of Pearl River died Thursday, March 24. She was 91.
She was born June 3, 1924, to Andrew and Anna (Muessig) Vitzthum. She was born in Brooklyn and moved to Queens, where she raised her famil, and in 1995, moved to Pearl River.
She married Herbert G. Haug on Nov. 12, 1949, at St. Sylvester Church in Brooklyn.

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Robert D. Banks of Apex, N.C., formerly of Poughkeepsie, died Saturday, March 19, after a two-year battle with cancer. He was 72.
He was born March 13, 1944, in Bud, W.Va. He retired from IBM in Poughkeepsie after 30 years of service. His passions were classic cars, football, OTB, motorcycles, music and dancing.

GLEN ROCK, N.J. – Bertha Deck Goldman of Glen Rock died Friday, March 25. She was 95.
She was born in Manhattan on March 14, 1921, and was married to Jacob Goldman, owner of Farmland Dairies, for 60 years. An active member of the Jewish Community, she was former president of Women's American ORT Bergen County Chapter and a lifetime member of ORT and Hadassah.
She is survived by two sons, Marc and Steven; three daughters, Diane, Karen and Arlene; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
