Yonkers Businesses, Volunteers Join Forces To Clean Saw Mill River YONKERS, N.Y. – Leading into Earth Week, Groundwork Hudson Valley will host the Seventh annual Great Saw Mill River Cleanup on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nearly 200 volunteers will gather at eight sites throughout the Saw Mill River watershed to clear trash from the river and save trees by cutting invasive vines. George J. Hyland, Jr., 92, Former Greenwich Police Lieutenant GREENWICH, Conn. – George J. Hyland, Jr., a retired Greenwich Police lieutenant, died Wednesday, April 13. He was 92. He was born Jan. 4, 1924, to George and Martha (Durkin) Hyland.  He graduated from Greenwich High School in 1942 and, while still in high school, enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving through the conclusion of World War II. He served on PT-339 in the Southwest Pacific, earning three Battle Stars, the Pacific Theater Ribbon, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Fairfield Reps Blast Malloy's Proposal To Slash Education Grant To Zero FAIRFIELD, Conn. – State Reps. Brenda Kupchick (R-132) and Laura Devlin (R-134) challenged Gov. Dannel Malloy’s proposal to completely cut Fairfield’s Education Cost Sharing (ECS) funds to zero. Malloy released his updated budget proposal Tuesday afternoon outside of his office. Under his updated budget proposal, Fairfield went from receiving a recommended amount of $3,590,008 in ECS funding to $0 for 2016-2017.
