Raymond 'Ray' Kallio, 93, Former Rye Brook Resident RYE BROOK, N.Y. – Raymond Jacob Kallio Sr., formerly of Rye Brook, died Tuesday, May 24 at Colonial Health & Rehab Center in Plainfield, Conn. He was 93. Born Sept. 24, 1922, in New Haven, Conn., he was the fourth child of the late Jacob and Lempi Kallio, who had emigrated from Finland. Soon after his birth, his family moved to Byram, Conn. He graduated from Greenwich High School and went to work at Electrolux in Old Greenwich, Conn. for more than 40 years. Brother Kevin P. Connolly, 79, New Rochelle Resident NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Brother Kevin P. Connolly died Sunday, May 29 at the provincial house of the Salesians of Don Bosco in New Rochelle. He was 79. He was born Jan. 29, 1937, in Brooklyn, the son of Peter and Mary Fitzpatrick Connolly. He joined the Salesians Sept. 8, 1956. He was assigned to Don Bosco Tech in Paterson, N.J. in 1956, where he taught printing and coached various sports. In 1962, he was sent to Don Bosco Juniorate in Haverstraw, where he trained candidates for the brotherhood, taught printing and was athletic director. William Kambar, 91, Yonkers Resident YONKERS, N.Y. – William Kambar, lifelong Yonkers resident, died Sunday, May 29. He was 91 years old. Born Jan. 2, 1925, he was the son of the late Emma and Yonan Kambar of Yonkers. They were Assyrian immigrants who emigrated from Persia when WWI broke out and entered through Ellis Island. He graduated from Yonkers Commerce High School in June 1943. On Aug. 27, 1943, he enlisted to serve in WWII.
