Edward McLaren, Jr., 93, Danbury Resident
DANBURY, Conn. – Edward McLaren, of Danbury, died Friday, June 3 after a brief illness. He was 93.
He was a Danbury resident for 62 years. He was born and raised in Troy, New York, where he attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and earned his degree in mechanical engineering. In 1945, he was called to serve his country as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army. As a member of the Army Signal Corps, he was asked to obtain an additional degree in electrical engineering, which he completed at Rutgers University.

Dominick Assumma, 86, Former Eastchester Resident
EASTCHESTER, N.Y. – Dominick Assumma, a resident of Eastchester for many years, died Friday, June 3. He was 86.
He lived in Yorktown Heights the past six years. He spent his working years as a gardener with his brother, Peter. He enjoyed square dancing, dancing for many years with many different clubs.
He was predeceased by his wife, Tina, in 2008.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa (Michael) Marra; four grandchildren, Michael, Joseph, Nicholas and Christina; sisters, Mary, Josephine and Pauline; and his furry friends Baci and Cocoa.

Giglio Bruno Giordano, 86, Former Stamford Mayor
STAMFORD, Conn. – Giglio Bruno Giordano, also known as Bruno Egilio Giordano, a former native and mayor of Stamford (1967-1969) died Friday, May 27 in Voorhees, New Jersey. He was 86.
He was born July 29, 1929. His leadership skills were first recognized during his senior year at Stamford High School, where he was captain of both the track and cross-country teams.
He attended the University of Connecticut from 1947-1951, and received a bachelor’s degree in science. He became an All-American Cross Country runner and standout athlete on the indoor/outdoor track teams. He was also the captain …

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – Michele Valvano, of Mt. Vernon, died Sunday, June 5. He was 91.
He was born Aug. 29, 1924, in Guardia Lombardi, Italy, to Nicola and Angiolina Valvano. He married Arcangela Dec. 19, 1947. He was like a father figure to all his nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his brother, Costantino Valvano and sister-in-law, Antoinetta.
He was predeceased by his wife, Arcangela, in 2012; and his daughter, Nicolina, in 1957.

NORWALK, Conn. – Alice Ryan Devine, of East Norwalk, died Saturday, June 4. She was 85.
She was the wife of the late Maurice “Moe” Edward Devine, with whom she shared 34 years of marriage. Born in Stamford on June 8, 1930, she was the daughter of the late William and Rose Tooher Ryan and the youngest of six children. She was raised in Stamford and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy.
