Archdiocese Closing Our Lady Of Sorrows In Garfield GARFIELD, N.J. – The Newark Archdiocese is closing Our Lady of Sorrows parish in Garfield as of Thursday, June 30. The archdiocese will continue to rent out its former Catholic elementary school and will try to rent the new church and the rectory, which is next to the old church. Our Lady of Sorrows parish is merging with Our Lady of Mount Virgin parish, also in Garfield.

James Alberse Longo, 81, Franklin Lakes Resident FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. – James Alberse Longo, of Franklin Lakes, died Friday, June 10 at the Valley Hospital, Ridgewood. He was 81. A founding member of Northwest Bergen History Coalition, charter member of Franklin Lakes Historical Society and member of Wyckoff Historical Society, he supported Native Americans at St. Joseph Indian School in South Dakota and Red Cloud Indian School in Minnesota. The bags arrived in multiple waves of postal trucks and private vehicles assigned to specific neighborhoods for pick-up.
