Connecticut Audubon Society Finds Thriving Osprey Population
FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – Connecticut’s Osprey population, which numbers at least 250 active nests, is thriving and healthy, and in all likelihood indicates local rivers, lakes and the Long Island Sound are clean enough to support ample fish for Ospreys to feed on, according to the Fairfield-based Connecticut Audubon Society.

Lois Farrar, 93, New Haven Resident
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – Lois Hough Farrar, of New Haven, died Saturday, March 12, at Yale-New Haven Hospital. She was 93.
She was born in Hartsville, S.C., on July 22, 1922, to Loranze and Lou Ella Hough.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19, at 11 a.m. at Mount Aery Baptist Church, 73 Frank St., Bridgeport. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Ralph Perschino, 78, Danbury Resident
DANBURY, Conn. – Ralph Anthony Perschino, of Danbury, died Tuesday, March 15. He was 78.
He was born in Norwalk on Nov. 3, 1937, tp Ralph and Elizabeth (Chimento) Perschino of Norwalk.
After attending Norwalk schools, he started his business career at Perkin-Elmer in Norwalk, later working at Timex Corporation in Southbury and Cendant Corporation in Danbury. He was a veteran of the U.S.Army, having served stateside during the Vietnam War with 475th Engineers.

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Betsy Sandra Shernoff of White Plains died Wednesday, March 9. She was 75.
She was born in Brooklyn on Nov. 4, 1940, to Helen and Murray Tornick. She lived in White Plains for over 50 years. She earned a bachelor's degree at New York University and a master's degree in special education from Iona College. Her many interests included playing the cello, Japanese drumming, reading, Cajun dancing, gourmet cooking, gardening and floral arranging. She earned a certificate as a master gardener.

EDGEWATER, N.J. – Regina (Jean) Leah Giller Kass of Edgewater, former longtime resident of Fairfield, Conn., died Monday, March 7, of congestive heart failure. She was 88.
She was predeceased in 2013 by Mort Kass, her husband of 64 years.
