Herbert Hanford Bottomley, 97, Monroe Resident MONROE, Conn. – A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14 for  Herbert Hanford Bottomley, of Monroe, who died Saturday, Feb. 27. He was 97. He was born in Bridgeport on May 3, 1918, to Herbert and Jessie Bracken Bottomley. He graduated from Central High School in 1935, and University of Connecticut in 1941, where he earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Following graduation, he enlisted in the Navy. Born and raised in Yonkers, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Anna Flood. She moved to Dobbs Ferry in 1955 and had been a resident for most of her adult life.
