'Aqua' Exhibit Opens At Norwalk's Maritime Garage Gallery
NORWALK, Conn. – The City of Norwalk Parking Authority’s Maritime Garage Gallery unveils its new exhibit, “Aqua,” with an opening reception Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m.
The pieces in “Aqua” take their inspiration from water. Gallery curator Sooo-z Mastropietro says, “With the 71 percent of the earth’s surface covered with water, we are constantly reminded of the beauty, the magic, the strength and the importance of this substance. These pieces represent water in its many forms, powerful yet fragile, peaceful yet tremendous, abundant yet scarce.”

NORWALK, Conn. – Douglas C. Campbell, a longtime Norwalk resident, died Saturday, April 9 at Norwalk Hospital after a long illness. He was 66.
He was born Aug. 23, 1949, in Detroit. He moved from Michigan to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, as a child with his parents, the late James and Phyliss Morrissey Campbell. He attended Penn State University then attended and graduated from Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown, Pa. Anna D. Spissinger, 90, Haverstraw Resident
HAVERSTRAW, N.Y. – Anna D. Spissinger, a lifelong resident of Haverstraw, died Friday, April 8. She was 90.
Born Oct. 16, 1925, she was the daughter of John and Mary (Dyossky) Kohut. She attended St. Peter’s Elementary School and graduated from Haverstraw High School in 1942. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary in New York City, and on Oct. 19, 1946 married her high school sweetheart, John G. Spissinger. Their marriage spanned more than 50 years until her husband’s death in 1997.

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. – Robert E. Smith, of Mt. Kisco, died Saturday, April 9, 2016. He was 81.
He was born in Yonkers to the late J. Emmit and Paula Kocak Smith.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Manhattan College and a master’s degree from both Brown and Fordham universities. He was an executive for Howmedica in East Rutherford, New Jersey, for more than 25 years, then for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals in New York City. He enjoyed hiking throughout Westchester County, kayaking and was a member of various book clubs in Westchester and New York City.

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – Lucy Agatha Rogan Carlesimo, of Bronxville, died Saturday, April 9. She was 93.
She was the wife of the late Pete Carlesimo; mother of 10 children, P.J., Cheryl, Gregg, Mark, Kevin, Tara, Mari, Sean, Rogan, and Cory; grandmother of 13; sister of Florita Caines; aunt to many nieces and nephews; and friend to many.

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. – Frank Fontana of Briarcliff Manor died Saturday, April 9. He was 80.
He was born in Mount Vernon on July 12, 1935.

Joseph Angelo Gizzi, 86, Irvington Resident
IRVINGTON, N.Y. – Joseph Angelo Gizzi of Irvington, formerly of Ossining, died Saturday, April 9. He was 86.
Born Nov. 26, 1929, in Ossining, he was the son of Guiseppe and Maria Pagliacci Gizzi. He graduated from Ossining High School and later earned a bachelor's degree from SUNY Cortlandt. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-55. He had been the proprietor of York Surgical in Yonkers for many years until he retired. He was a member of the Ossining Fire Department's Monitor Hose Company 4 since 1952. He was also a member of the Irvington Seniors.
