New Canaan's Silvermine Arts Center Offers Trunk Show, Tag Sale
NEW CANAAN, Conn. – The Silvermine Arts Center in New Canaan will host its popular Artisan’s Trunk Show and Art Materials and Equipment Tag Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 7 at the Gallery and School of Art.
The special sale day is a tax-free event at Silvermine. Low prices – $1 to $5 for many items – can be found throughout the tag sale. Items include paints (oil, acrylic, watercolor or pastels), paper (including card stock and hand-made paper), frames, stretcher bars, cameras, sculpture supplies, art books and a variety of donated art equipment. Express Creativity With Art Journaling Workshop At Greenwich Library
GREENWICH, Conn. – Join Artist Kathy Coe from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, May 14 in the Greenwich Library Meeting Room for a unique art journaling workshop.
Coe will teach patrons how to create their own personalized handmade journal, as well as show how to use mixed media to explore the art journaling process. Patrons will work with watercolors, pencils, images, pastels, ribbons, postcards and more, all of which will be provided. The adult-oriented workshop is all about expression, creativity, moving forward, remembering and reflecting.

Agnes B. 'Sue' Gyscek, 91, Poughkeepsie Resident
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Agnes B. “Sue” Gyscek, of Poughkeepsie, died Wednesday, April 27 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. She was 91.
She was born on Sept. 30, 1924, in Poughkeepsie, to Lawrence and Theresa Kovacs Gyscek. She was a lab technician at IBM in Poughkeepsie until her retirement in 1987. A lifetime local resident, she was a member of the Ralph Waterman Bird Club, former member of F.W. Vanderbilt Garden Association Inc. and the Thirty Five Hundred Hiking Club.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Helen Shoup, Ester Winkler, Mary Parren, Anna Martell, Betty Sears and Rita Kondor and …
Passaic County Freeholders Present $165,000 To Open Space For Projects
PASSAIC COUNTY, N.J. – The Passaic County Board of Chosen Freeholders presented Open Space checks for two projects based in Little Falls totaling $165,000 at its Tuesday meeting.
The funds will go toward investments in parks and open space. The local Historic Commission received $15,000 to prepare needs assessment and pursue historic designation for the former police department and municipal building, and the Township of Little Falls received $150,000 to upgrade the lighting system at various active recreational fields, including baseball, football, soccer and tennis courts.
