Racial Slur Spray Painted In Street: Hillside PD A racial epithet was spray painted in the middle of a street in Hillside on Saturday, April 5, authorities said. At 12:45 p.m., police responded to the 100 block of Nottingham Way where they found the racial slur, authorities said. Man Found Dead In Woods: Bridgeton PD A man was found dead in a wooded area of Bridgeton on Saturday, April 5, authorities said. At 8:50 a.m., a passerby reported seeing a man partially submerged in a retaining well at East Commerce Street east of East Lake, Bridgeton police said. The area is frequented by homeless people, police said. The man, a Latino possibly in his 30s, has not been identified, police said. An investigation determined the victim frequented homeless areas of the city, police said. The cause of death remains under investigation however there were no apparent signs of assault or foul play, police said.

Man Arrested For Robbinsville Home Invasion After Taking Golf Cart: Police A 22-year-old Philadelphia man was arrested and charged after he stole a golf cart from an apartment complex in Secaucus on Monday, April 7, authorities said. At 12:57 a.m., officers responded to the Xchange Apartment complex after a man, later identified as Alaji Ahmad-Alwan, attempted to gain access into the building, Secaucus police said. 8-Year-Old Elizabeth Girl Among Two Killed In Route 295 Crash: Police Two people from Elizabeth, including an 8-year-old girl were killed in a crash on Route 295 in Burling County on the evening of Sunday, April 6. At 10:17 p.m., a Hyundai Santa Fe and Hyundai Tucson were traveling northbound on Route 295 in Florence, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey Police said. Man Killed In Newark Shooting ID'ed: Prosecutor A 34-year-old Newark man was fatally shot on the early morning of Saturday, April 5, authorities said. Bashir Pebbles was found with multiple gunshot wounds near South 17th Street and Madison Avenue, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. He was transferred to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead, authorities said. The investigation is ongoing, authorities said. This was the second shooting in Newark this past weekend. Two Men Who Murdered Teen During Vineland Robbery Learn Fate: Prosecutor Two men received lengthy prison sentences on Friday, April 4, after being convicted of murdering a 15-year-old during a 2022 robbery in Vineland, authorities said. Deshawn Bowen, a 25-year-old Bridgeton resident and Rohdane Watson, a 20-year-old Vineland resident, were previously convicted of felony murder, aggravated manslaughter and robbery in February, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said.
