Carlstadt Dance Academy Shows Off Disney Magic CARLSTADT, N.J. -- Talk about having your princess dreams come true. Allegro Arts Academy in Carlstadt was part of the Disney Performing Arts on July 9 where the troupe preformed their award winning routines in Disney Springs, Fl.  The girls were awarded a Golden Mickey Trophy.  The magic continued on July 10 when they participated in a dance workshop at Epcot with the Disney Preforming Arts staff.

New Rochelle Chef Competes On Food Network's 'Chopped' WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Kimani Hines, the chef of Alvin & Friends in New Rochelle, will compete on "Chopped."  The Food Network show airs at 10 p.m. Tuesday, July 18. In this episode, chefs must create appetizers in just 20 minutes using clams and a sweet dried fruit; squid ink and a strong-flavored candy for the entree, and for dessert, a pie made of beans and an alcoholic drink made with sorbet.

Steven Spielberg Movie Shoots Scenes In Mamaroneck, New Rochelle WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Mamaroneck Motel, known among locals for its time warp 1960s vibe, was the scene for the Steven Spielberg period piece, "The Papers," that for weeks has been filming in White Plains. (See earlier Daily Voice story here.) The scene was shot Thursday, July 15. The movie, starring Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep, is centered on the Washington Post's publication of the 1971 Pentagon Papers. According to Variety, Hanks plays Editor Ben Bradlee; Streep plays Publisher Kay Graham. A Facebook posting in Love Larchmont also said scenes were shot at Iona College …

Three Fairfield County Hot Dogs Named 'The Best In America' FAIRFIELD COUNTY. Conn. -- Fairfield County is a hotbed for hot dogs, at least according to The Daily Meal. A new list by the site ranks three area eateries among the best in the nation. Super Duper Weenie in Fairfield, Rawley's Drive-In in Fairfield and Danny's Drive-In in Stratford were named "The best hot dogs in America." Walters Hot Dog Stand in Mamaroneck N.Y., which is coming to Stamford's Harbor Point later this summer, also made the list.
