Contributors are urged to recycle their good books to share with others and help the Stratford Library increase their book purchase fund at the same time. The Aquarium is seeking volunteers to help attach census tags to horseshoe crabs as the crabs come up out of the water to spawn at Calf Pasture Beach this spring. Charlotte Tuttle, Brewster Resident, 89 BREWSTER, N.Y. – Charlotte Tuttle, of Brewster, died Tuesday, March 29. She was 89. She was born Jan. 2, 1927, to Charles and May Tuttle, and graduated from Brewster High School in 1944.  She worked for the Metro-North Commuter Railroad for 49 years until her retirement in 1994.  In June 2010, she relocated to Peachtree City, Ga., to be close to her family and was cared for by the staff at Ashley Glen Senior Care Center. She was a choir member at the First Baptist Church of Brewster and Mount Carmel Baptist Church.  She is survived by several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by he…

Tony Hwang (R-28) and a Newtown parent applauded the state Senate’s Tuesday passage of legislation that aims to make schools safer in Connecticut. The legislation increases the penalties for when a threat involves a preschool, K-12 school or an institution of higher education. Right now, calling in a bomb threat, or any kind of threat, to a school is a misdemeanor. Effective Oct. 1, the new legislation would change that, making such threats felonies, which would result in a prison sentence.
